Fonts are composed of different style of typefaces. Fonts are further categorized into collections. Families make up fonts while font families can then be broken down into font faces.

All operating systems include pre-loaded fonts.

The operating system only holds so many fonts without the user downloading others on their own. When choosing your display font, you must choose a backup front that will be displayed if the user does not have the original font installed. The final backup font should be a generic option such as serif or sans-serif.

Font sizing is more than just a number.

Fonts can be sized by absolute units which are pixels or points. Relative units can also be used such as percentages or ems. Relative sizing will change the size of the font depending on the size of their nearest sized ancestor.
